Harvey County Treasurer Amy Perkins told commissioners that the county’s annual tax statements — 27,823 in total — were being mailed that day and provided department volumes for October.
Perkins said the office processed 5,301 vehicle tag transactions in October and 667 driver’s license transactions, and she is implementing a plan to reduce a backlog of vehicle title transactions that predated her tenure. Perkins said she is personally working to complete bank reconciliations back to May 2024 when accounts were last balanced. She asked the commission to consider revisiting county collection policy for delinquent taxes at a later meeting.
Perkins also said she was choosing to forego the additional payment of about $10,760 per year to the County Treasurer from the motor vehicle fund allowed by KSA 8‑145, and instead recommended directing those funds to the general fund to offset operational costs. Commissioners took the report as information; no further action on tax collection policy was taken at the Nov. 12 meeting.
