Commission discusses draft ballot resolution to continue optional 1¢ sales/use tax; vote deferred to next meeting

Duff said the draft resolution before commissioners had been written based on deputy county attorney recommendations and noted that by statute the county must have at least 50% of municipalities approve before the county may act. Commissioners discussed whether to specify spending categories (such as public safety, parks, infrastructure) in the resolution; several commissioners said they preferred to leave categories to the educational materials rather than the ballot resolution after advice from the deputy county attorney. The item will come up for a formal vote at the next meeting once municipal approvals are verified.
A member of the public briefly spoke in favor of placing the continuance on the ballot during public comment.
