Local baseball club asked county to apply mag chloride to private gravel access; commissioners asked for written request

A representative for Double Dave Baseball told county staff on June 1 that the club’s private field is accessed by about 1,200 feet of gravel road that becomes dusty in summer, and asked whether the county could place mag chloride if the club paid for the material.
County staff explained policy: because the road is not a county road the commission would need to authorize any treatment. The engineer estimated the county’s labor and equipment costs would be roughly $1,500 and said the product would be a similar cost to the club. Commissioners asked the club to submit a formal written request outlining immediate needs and long-term plans (including whether paving is planned) before the item would be scheduled for formal consideration.
