Residents press township to enforce detention‑pond conditions and address undersized culvert on Crick Lane

At the public comment period Betsy Kane and others asked the township to enforce development conditions requiring functioning retention ponds, to clear and/or enlarge an undersized Crick Lane culvert, and to add the culvert to maintenance to reduce flooding; the resident said DEP did not follow its rules in approving the plan without a detention pond.
Resident Betsy Kane told the board Aug. 6 she and neighbors objected to a Cove of Millbrook plan proceeding without a detention pond despite DEP guidance; she said the culvert under Crick Lane is undersized and often clogged after storms, causing flooding onto private property. Kane asked the township to keep the channel open, add the culvert to road crew maintenance and enforce conditions placed on upstream developments whose retention ponds are reportedly nonfunctional.
Kane said she and others had walked the area with the township engineer and county conservation district and provided photos. She asked the board to enforce conditions of prior approvals and to consider options including increasing culvert size or replacing it with an arched pedestrian bridge to protect walkers and fishermen who use the lane.
