Board approves 2025-26 LCAP after questions about truancy among tribal students

A board member moved to approve the plan; the motion was seconded and the board voted to pass the item.
Board member Priscilla asked about a reported truancy rate and cited "a 44 percent" figure for tribal students across the county, asking how the LCAP addresses that concern. Staff said the county has a student-success coordinator, additional FTE for after-hours and independent-study options, and is building relationships with tribes as part of its attendance strategy. "We've done a very good job this year of offering other options for students that are very, far from here," a staff presenter said.
The board completed the item with a recorded pass. Staff committed to supplying specific metrics on truancy rates and to include student and family surveys as part of the feedback process required by the LCAP.
