Superintendent and staff deliver project and program updates at May 20 board meeting

Superintendent Lewis opened the staff-report portion of the agenda and introduced several presentations. Mike Maher provided an update on the Commons Park project; Principal Matheson with Assistant Principals Zarlee and Engelhardt summarized how cell phone expectations worked during the 2024—25 school year; and Matthew Hammer of Ehlers presented the Bond Sale Day Report.
Finance director Jason Mutzenberger presented the revised FY2024—25 budget for board consideration. Student representatives Aiyanna Shobe and Deqa Ahmed shared reflections on their time on the School Board and plans moving forward. Director Stephen Keeler presented updates to the Fridley Community Center and the Community Education organizational chart. Superintendent Lewis also noted Carlos Villagomez was named an Employee of Excellence and mentioned Staff Appreciation Ice Cream Days, reductions for 2025, and Safe Routes to School.
