Odessa hires coaches for baseball, football and volleyball; one abstention recorded

Cam Smith was approved as junior-high head baseball coach in a unanimous 4-0 vote. The board approved Kolby Schafer as high-school head football coach; board member Zach Schafer recorded an abstention, and the motion carried with three votes in favor and one abstention. The board also approved Alex Stanford as high-school assistant volleyball coach; Stanford’s prior resignation from junior-high coaching roles had been recorded earlier on the consent agenda.
Athletic Director Larry Moffet told the board spring sports schedules are complete and that interviews had been held for the HS head football, HS assistant volleyball and JH head baseball positions. Moffet also said Wilson Creek will fill the assistant junior-high baseball coach and that a two-week football camp led by Mr. Nelson will run in the summer.
