Hill City board hires activities director, community ed coordinator and approves psychologist contract

At its Aug. 25 meeting the Hill City board approved hiring Maxwell Toergerson as Storm Activities Director, approved a Community Education Coordinator agreement with Melaine McNeil, hired Nikki Pearson (.33 FTE visual arts and yearbook advisor), and approved a Greenway contract for .20 FTE school psychologist services ($23,225).
The Hill City School Board voted to hire Maxwell (Max) Toergerson as Storm Activities Director for the 2025–26 school year and approved an activities agreement listing an estimated 520 hours at a compensation of $12,000 per year. The motion to approve the hiring was made by Joell Miranda and seconded by Sarah Kingsley and passed unanimously where recorded.
The board also approved a Community Education Coordinator agreement with Melaine McNeil for 2025–2027 (estimated 520 hours at $7,540 for 2025–26 and $7,800 for 2026–27) and hired Nikki Pearson as a .33 FTE visual arts teacher for 2025–26 and as the yearbook advisor under the HCUE contract. Separately, the board approved a professional services agreement with Greenway to provide school psychologist services for approximately .20 FTE in 2025–26 at a contract value of $23,225 (payable in semi-annual installments).
