Sequim staff schedules Sept. 1 public hearing as comprehensive-plan work nears finish

Staff gave a status update on the city’s comprehensive-plan process and outlined a near-term schedule leading to public hearings. Director (staff) said the project team held its second and final drop-in community open house and will present the plan to City Council on Aug. 10, host a developer forum on Aug. 13, hold a Planning Commission study session on Aug. 18, and convene a public hearing before the Planning Commission on Sept. 1. “We will be providing a, overview with the City Council this coming Monday on August 10, of the comprehensive plan and the process we've gone through with the Planning Commission,” staff said (Director, S1).
Staff said commissioners will receive two crosswalk documents before the Aug. 18 meeting: a staff-recommended revision crosswalk and a public-comment crosswalk listing each received comment and staff response. The documents are intended to focus the Aug. 18 meeting on substantive issues and to prepare the commission for the Sept. 1 public hearing. Staff invited commissioners to return editorial or formatting notes by email or in hard copy but asked that policy-focused discussion happen at the meeting.
