District reports growth in Expanded Learning Opportunities program, plans summer expansion

The Sulphur Springs Union School District reported districtwide growth in its Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO‑P) for the 2025–2026 school year. Director of Curriculum and Instruction Vivian Fiss said the program expanded access to tutoring by certificated teachers, enrichment activities, community partnerships and student clubs, and that the district saw improvements in attendance tied to the program.
Fiss told trustees the district plans to operate a summer program and add a new program vendor for 2026–2027 to support continued expansion. Trustees asked questions about staffing and program quality measures during the update; no formal vote was required.
