Board seeks quote to repair Pump #2 as stopgap for Merry Oaks water service

Officials said the village cannot open the main valve until a new Pump House (Booster Station) is built at the bottom of Valley View, and that Merry Oaks may remain isolated until either a booster station is installed at the bottom of Colona Road or a water main extension is run from Pleasant Avenue to Kingsbury Drive.
Trustees moved to have ION Environmental obtain a quote to repair or replace High Service Pump #2 at Plant B "to ensure we can supply Merry Oaks with water until the transfer to East Moline water is complete." The agenda notes that Merry Oaks could be isolated "possibly until late 2027" unless one of the infrastructure options is completed. The board also noted a need to locate a company to perform a loop or coupon study as part of system planning.
The motion to seek the pump-repair quote appears on the Village President's agenda; the transcript does not record a subsequent board vote on that motion during the meeting. The board did not set a construction timeline or funding source for a permanent booster station during the May 5 session.
