Parish President Peter Dufresne told the council the Vacherie Community and Sports Complex pre-bid meeting will be held July 21, with bids due August 4, and said preliminary sitework for Rosary Street is underway. He also reported that despite recent rains, drainage projects (Buddy Whitney and Humble Street) remain on schedule.
Dufresne highlighted community programming successes: flag football continues, a new girls' volleyball league has drawn large crowds, and the July 3 Food Trucks and Fireworks celebration saw higher attendance than last year. He said the 5th District Summer Camp closed today, funded by a district recreation millage and sponsorships from Koch Methanol, Mosaic, NextEra, Entergy and ExxonMobil. Dufresne also noted the 5th District Building bid opening is set for July 23 and that the parish has received Resilient Communities Infrastructure Program funds to move forward on construction after settling longstanding litigation.
