Alexandria Township Board rescinds student’s long-term suspension

The Alexandria Township Board of Education voted unanimously May 29, 2025, to rescind a long-term suspension for a student whose name is on file in the district Business Office. The motion to rescind, moved by Doug Walker and seconded by Marybeth Madlinger, passed by roll-call vote 7–0 with two members absent.
The rescission applies through the end of the 2024–2025 school year and reverses a suspension the board had approved at its May 22, 2025 meeting. The board handled the matter following an executive session that the board said was convened to address a student long-term suspension; the board returned to open session at 7:40 PM before taking the rescission vote.
The motion was recorded in the minutes as: "Motion made by D. Walker, seconded by M. Madllinger, to rescind the long-term suspension of a student, whose name is on file in the Business Office, through the end of the 2024-2025 school year, which was approved at the Board Meeting on May 22, 2025." The minutes show a roll-call of Abelman, Dobak, Joseph, Madlinger, Quinones, Small and Walker voting yes; Austin and Bagley were absent.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:42 PM. The minutes are signed by Michael McGarry, School Business Administrator/Board Secretary.
