Board accepts several resignations and approves multiple hires ahead of 2025–26 school year
Summary
The Yellow Medicine East board accepted resignations from four staff members and approved hiring five classroom and paraprofessional positions for the 2025–26 year, including Early Childhood Special Education and MS/HS teacher hires.
The board on July 14 accepted resignations from elementary teacher Megan Smallman; MS/HS teacher Lucas Damm; BRE paraprofessional Sami Halvorson; and MS/HS teacher Robyn Aslesen. Motions to accept resignations were made by Sonja Pederson and seconded by Laurel Christianson.
Following the resignations, the board approved employment actions to fill positions for the coming year. Approved hires include Rhonda Buysse (Early Childhood Special Education teacher), Felixa Amato (MS/HS teacher), Tammy Carruth (long-term substitute elementary teacher), and Michelle Vavricka (long-term substitute elementary teacher and BRE paraprofessional). The board also approved Megan Canatsey as a BRE paraprofessional. These personnel votes were presented as routine staffing actions for the start of the school year.
