WEM board accepts multiple resignations, approves one nonrenewal

The WEM School Board approved multiple personnel changes during its May 19 meeting. The consent agenda, approved by motion of June Rezac and seconded by Jeff Stangler, included resignations from Andrew Stumbo (High School and Elementary Choir Music, effective May 30, 2025), Deanna Thibedeau (assistant cook/baker in Morristown, effective May 7, 2025), Abby Butzer Ireland (Junior High English Teacher, effective May 30, 2025) and Patty Whitehurst (K–8 Yearbook Advisor, effective at the end of the 2024–2025 school year). The board also accepted the retirement of paraprofessional Becky Vollbrecht, who is retiring after 25 years of service effective May 29, 2025.
Separately, the board approved by roll-call vote a motion by Board Chairman Gary Michael, seconded by Jeff Stangler, to terminate and not renew the teaching contract for probationary teacher Lindsey Janssen; the minutes record seven members voting in favor. Several other staffing approvals and hires were handled through the consent agenda and later motions (psychologist contracts and Community Ed hires).
