YME board approves multiple policy updates; principals and Q-Comp committee present reports

The Yellow Medicine East School Board approved updates to several district policies on June 9, including Policy 621 (Literacy & READ Act), Policy 533 (Wellness), Policy 516 (Student Medication & Telehealth), Policy 413 (Harassment & Violence) and others. Motions to approve each policy update were made by Laurel Christianson, seconded by Sonja Pederson, and carried.
During the meeting the board also received informational reports: Lisa Hansen (Bert Raney Elementary Principal) reviewed staff development, Title I programming, Parent Aware recertification and ECFE summer programming; Stacy Hinz (MS/HS Principal) reported on 6th grade Boot Camp, staffing updates, PBIS leadership training and improved ACT scores; Superintendent Rich Schneider shared recruiting and legislative updates and referendum review; and Amy Hoernemann and Jake Suter presented the Q-Comp 2024–25 annual report highlighting district results and goals.
