Board approves election services contract, recognizes Juneteenth and awards bids

The Yellow Medicine East board approved an Election Services contract with Yellow Medicine County (motion by Laurel Christianson, second by Matt Zempel) and unanimously adopted a resolution appointing election judges and Absentee Ballot Board members for the special school district election scheduled for Aug. 12, 2025 (motion by Matt Zempel, second by Amanda Lecy; carried by roll call vote).
In procurement actions the board awarded the bead bid to Pan-O-Gold Baking Co. of St. Cloud for the 2025–26 school year and authorized staff to call for bids for milk and milk products for 2025–26. The board also approved purchase of storage containers during the meeting. Separately, the board voted to recognize Juneteenth (June 19, 2025) as a district holiday and to pay employees for that day.
