During the March 10 meeting Finance Director (Mr. Pillar) told the board the district is tracking several fiscal pressures that could affect the 2025-26 budget. He said federal funding changes could begin to affect the district as early as fall 2025 and noted the district is watching legislative developments carefully.
Mr. Pillar told the board the district expects to see "a decrease of approximately 25% to the Title funds." He also reported an anticipated PERS-related impact to the general fund in the approximate range of $450,000 to $500,000 and that temporary staffing and Paid Leave Oregon liabilities had produced an unexpected cost near $600,000. The minutes say the estimates are subject to legislative outcomes and further clarification when the state updates its K-12 financial forecast in May.
Board members asked questions about how these changes would be absorbed; the minutes record discussion but do not spell out specific offsets or line-item adjustments. The board accepted the report and will consider the budget committee calendar and public process for the coming cycle.
