Commission books Liquid Velvet and Wade Sims for Lighting of the Depot

Spring City’s Tourism and Events Commission on Sept. 24 approved entertainment for the upcoming Lighting of the Depot. The commission voted to contract Liquid Velvet for $1,500 to perform from 6:00 p.m. to the end of the event and to hire Wade Sims for $300 to perform from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The Elementary and Middle schools are scheduled to perform approximately 3:00–4:00 p.m.
Members discussed corporate sponsorships to cover music costs; Cindy Hatfield and Stephanie Strader each offered to cover one-half of Liquid Velvet’s fee if needed. Committee members also discussed additional entertainment options, including possible skits or roaming performances from Tennessee Valley Theater and children’s activities such as face painting.
The entertainment approvals were presented as line items in the event budget and tied to other logistics discussed later in the meeting, including staging, sound and vendor placement.
