Board approves ASB fundraisers, FFA overnight trips and other routine consent items

At its Aug. 28 meeting the Mendota Unified School District Board approved a consent calendar covering routine student fundraisers, club trips and financial items. The consent calendar included approvals for Mendota Elementary ASB Kona Ice and Dippin' Dots sales, grade-level Holiday Grams and snack sales, a movie night fundraiser, Aztec gear sales, and authorization for Mendota High School FFA students to attend an overnight Made for Excellence/Advanced Leadership Academy in Visalia on Feb. 14–15, 2025 and the California State FFA Leadership Conference in Sacramento on April 2–6, 2025.
The consent calendar motion (moved by Trustee Sergio Valdez, seconded by Trustee Jose C. Zavala) passed unanimously, 7–0. The board also approved specific item requests within the consent calendar, such as the MHS Coaches Handbook and policies allowing letter-writing donation campaigns for MHS athletic teams and ASB clubs; the minutes record motions and approvals but do not list financial proceeds or budgetary impacts for the fundraisers.
