Board adopts most policies on second reading; one policy held for further review
Summary
The board approved multiple policy updates on second reading — including nondiscrimination, graduation requirements and medication policies — but asked for further review of instructional materials policy IIA before March.
On a second reading the Milton‑Freewater Unified SD 7 board adopted a slate of policy updates on Feb. 3, approving required and recommended policy revisions while holding one policy for further review.
Superintendent Aaron Duff presented the second reading of required policies including AC (Nondiscrimination and Civil Rights), IKF (Graduation Requirements), JHCD (Medications) and associated administrative rules. The board adopted the presented policies with the exception of policy IIA (Instructional Materials) and its administrative rule, which the board requested be reviewed and returned at the March meeting. The motion to adopt the list as presented (with IIA excluded) was moved by Kathy Silva and approved unanimously.
Board members also received a list of optional and recommended policy changes that will be incorporated according to the board's timeline for policy review.
