Mendota Unified board approves personnel moves, credential waivers and side letters

The Mendota Unified School District Board of Trustees approved multiple personnel actions Aug. 28, including the resignation of Savannah Cabrera, formerly an instructional aide–caregiver at Mendota High School, effective Aug. 19, 2024. The board also approved a promotion for Maria Velazquez from 6-hour assistant cook to an 8-hour head cook position and transferred Jeanette Hercules to an Elementary Literacy Coach position at Washington Elementary School.
The board approved credential-related items for Erika Gonzalez, amending her employment contingency and granting a Variable Term Waiver for Bilingual Authorization in Spanish for grades K–6 for the 2024–25 school year. Trustees also ratified side letter agreements with the Mendota Teachers Association covering hourly supplemental rates for Migrant and Academic Saturday Programs and for academic tutoring; those side letters run through the 2024–25 school year as specified in the minutes.
