Several patrons addressed the board during the public comment period on March 20, offering both praise for Superintendent Champion’s leadership and concerns about workplace treatment and accountability.
Corbi Lima, Julie Brooksby and Jill Hall thanked the board and praised Superintendent Champion’s vision and the opportunities created during his tenure. By contrast, Molly Mitton, a former district employee, spoke about her experience with a medical leave and expressed concern for the treatment of classified employees. Nathanael Swan commented on Superintendent Champion’s resignation and urged the new board to be accountable. Additional patrons raised questions about temporary placements following the NMHS gym collapse and called for clearer communication from the district.
Comments were delivered as public testimony and did not result in board action during the meeting. The speakers asked the board to keep focus on students and to prioritize civility and collaboration.
