Superintendent Glen Szymoniak told the committee the district plans community outreach to increase enrollment at the Great Basin Homeschool Center and intends to provide homeschool services via GBHS in Gilchrist, Chiloquin and Bly. He said the district's goal is to double homeschool enrollment in two years.
Committee member Marc Staunton cautioned that "traditional home school families may not find a fairly traditional school setting on Washburn Way appealing," and Diana Otero added context that housing development often shifts existing local residents into better housing rather than bringing many new families into the district. The district did not set targets beyond the two-year enrollment goal during this meeting.
