Klamath County SD budget committee hears State of the District, ESSER spending overview

Superintendent Glen Szymoniak told the Klamath County School District Budget Committee on May 6 that he had reviewed how the district used ESSER I, II and III funds as part of a broader State of the District presentation. Director of Business Services Janet Melsness explained the role of budget committee members and provided a financial update, asking the committee to email questions so she could gather answers and respond to the group.
Szymoniak opened the presentation with an overview of federal relief spending and the district’s reserve strategy to support equipment replacement schedules. "Enrollment is beginning to decline for the first time since 2013," Szymoniak said, a trend officials said factors into near-term budgeting and facilities planning. Melsness encouraged committee members to submit questions by email and requested that questions be shared with the whole committee to avoid duplication.
