Board directs chair to draft comprehensive summary of superintendent evaluation
Summary
Following an executive session under ORS 192.660(2)(i) on the superintendent’s performance, the Centennial School District 28J board unanimously asked Chair Rose Solowski to prepare a comprehensive summary statement for Superintendent James Owens’ final evaluation.
The Centennial School District 28J Board met in executive session on June 18 to review and evaluate the employment-related performance of Superintendent James Owens under ORS 192.660(2)(i). The session began after a break, included Board members and staff, and Superintendent Owens and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tasha Katsuda joined at 9:32 p.m. for presentation of the evaluation outcome.
After returning to open session, Director Claudia Andrews moved that Chair Rose Solowski develop a comprehensive summary statement to be included in Superintendent Owens’ final evaluation; Director Melissa Standley seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The Board did not disclose evaluation deliberations in open session beyond noting the outcome and the assignment to the Chair to draft the summary. The executive session was held pursuant to state statute allowing closed evaluation sessions for employment-related matters.
