The Centennial School District 28J Governing Board unanimously adopted the district’s 2025–26 budget at its June 18 regular meeting. Director of Business & Operations Paul Southerton presented the amended total budget of $159,964,707 and recommended appropriation of funds and an ad valorem tax levy for the year.
Southerton told the Board the proposed budget includes a General Fund of $99,613,216 and other fund budgets totaling $60,351,491. He also outlined a proposed permanent general fund tax rate of $4.7448 per $1,000 of assessed value and a tax levy of $4,189,105 earmarked for bonded general obligation debt payments.
Chair Rose Solowski opened a formal budget hearing at 7:09 p.m.; no members of the public testified. After brief Board deliberations in which members thanked the Budget Committee and staff for their work, Vice Chair Pam Shields moved to adopt the budget, funds and taxes as presented; Director Melissa Standley seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
The Board’s approval completes the local adoption and appropriation steps required for the fiscal year; Southerton outlined next procedural steps for implementation and financial monitoring. The district will present related financial statements and enrollment reports as part of routine confirmations and future oversight.
