The Link transit demo for students aims to boost youth ridership through September

Sara Crook, travel trainer for The Link Public Transit, presented a summer initiative designed to familiarize middle- and high-school students with public transit and encourage ridership. Students can use their school ID to ride free and sign up at the transit center or participating libraries. As an incentive, riders earn prizes; the program limits one prize per ride but allows multiple rides to earn additional prizes.
Crook said the program started about a month earlier and runs through Sept. 1. She reported stronger participation in Hood River County than in Wasco County and said she submitted a materials distribution form to the district. The board received the presentation as informational and did not take action.
