Eva Varga, speaking for the North Bend Education Association, told the board on April 3 that the district is preparing for state testing and that the testing process adds stress for students and teachers.
Varga highlighted transition activities for fifth-graders (guest visit by Wade Lester), the start of "Marathon Madness" at Hillcrest and North Bay elementaries, and the district's "Extra Mile" recognition program naming staff members for appreciation. The minutes list staff members recognized: Rob Bogart, Amy Woodruff, Wendy Davis, Candace Worthen, Heather Horning, Rebecca Boras, and Kim Black. The minutes also note a fundraiser for the high school Peru trip scheduled for April 26, 2025.
Superintendent Vince Swagerty noted the district will celebrate staff April 7 through April 11 and that the district is interviewing applicants for the athletic director position. No board action was taken on these reports; items were recorded for the district record.
