Milton-Freewater Unified SD 7 board directs superintendent to negotiate purchase of Ferndale School property

"Kelly Kessler moved to direct Aaron Duff to enter into negotiations for the property at Ferndale School listed as Tax Lot 1401, with a sale price not to exceed the Umatilla County Assesers Value," said the motion on the record; it was seconded by Tim McElrath and approved unanimously. The transcript records the board's vote as "UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED." The motion directs the superintendent to begin negotiations; it does not itself finalize a purchase.
Superintendent Aaron Duff presented the proposal, describing the parcel as 2.2 acres that Ferndale School was currently using under a lifetime easement. Board Secretary recorded attendance showing a quorum (Claudia Limon, Kelly Kessler, Tim McElrath, Donald Miller, Duane Geyer, Tina Kain and Kathy Silva). Tina Kain participated by phone.
The special meeting was called to order by Chair Claudia Limon at 6:44 p.m. and adjourned at 6:55 p.m. The board noted that the next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 10, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Freewater School. The authorization on March 3 directs staff to pursue negotiations; any final sale would require further board action and documentation.
