Mendota Unified board adopts two resolutions on grants and instructional materials

The Mendota Unified School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Sept. 25 to adopt two resolutions that affect district funding and instructional resources.
RESOLUTION No. 385-2425 authorizes the district to apply for and sign assurances required for local, state and federal program grants and projects. The board approved the resolution on a roll-call vote of 6–0, with Trustee Raul S. Varela absent. The action clears an administrative step needed for district staff to pursue grant funding for programs that require formal assurances.
Trustees also adopted RESOLUTION No. 386-2425, a certification that the district has sufficient textbooks and instructional materials for the 2024–2025 school year. That resolution likewise passed by a 6–0 roll-call vote with R. Varela absent. The certification is required by state law to confirm that students have access to adopted instructional resources.
The motions were made and seconded on the board floor and recorded in the official roll call: S. Ochoa moved both measures; S. Valdez seconded the consent-motion approvals in the roll call noted in the minutes. No board member requested further substantive debate on either resolution during the meeting.
