PHS details CTE offerings; Career Connect set for March 13 with employer participation

Curt Thompson, Assistant Principal at Pendleton High School, presented a slideshow detailing CTE offerings at PHS, including Media/Digital Arts, Engineering and Robotics, FFA, Agriculture Science, Hospitality and Tourism, and Work-Based Learning. Thompson said the district is revamping Carl Perkins funding on a four-year rotation to support those programs.
Patti Hyatt, the district’s School to Careers Coordinator, reviewed the 2023–24 end-of-year report and the 2024–25 year-to-date work. Hyatt said "213 students are signed up for job shadows" and that the Career Connect Conference will be held regionally "at the Pendleton Convention Center on March 13, 2025, for over 500 students and 48 employers." Teachers Abbey Prevot and Bailey Sitts described professional development takeaways and how they will apply new ideas in their classrooms.
