Debbie Colson, Library Director, and Ann Rector, Assistant Library Director, presented a proposal to implement a Library of Things pilot at the Midland County Library, asking for a $5,000 budget allocation to start with items such as board games, bakeware and craft supplies.
Colson noted successful practice in neighboring Ector County and said staff would like "to start with board games, bakeware and craft items." Auditor Veronica Morales raised liability questions about some suggested items; Commissioner Dianne Anderson asked about space and logistics. Commissioner Steven Villela expressed support but asked for further information before formal approval. The court took no action and requested additional details on liability, cataloging, and operational procedures before returning the item to a future agenda.
