Merced County board approves consent agenda and several proclamations

The Merced County Board of Education approved its consent agenda at the Sept. 16 regular meeting, adopting minutes from the Aug. 19 meeting and several resolutions. The consent items included Resolution No. 2024-25 recognizing Oct. 13–19, 2024 as Week of the School Administrator and Resolution No. 2024-26 proclaiming Oct. 2024 as Character Education Month. Retirement resolutions honoring Teresa Machado (Resolution No. 2024-30) and Rebecca Rodriguez Lincoln (Resolution No. 2024-31) were also on the consent calendar.
Board member Frank Fagundes moved the motion to approve the consent agenda, and Dennis Hanks seconded; the minutes record that "the motion carried with a vote of 4-0 (Brett absent)." Those consent approvals required no further debate and were handled in a single board action as described in board bylaws.
The board's consent items are routine administrative actions; the superintendent had recommended approval of the items prior to the meeting.
