The Merced County Board of Education opened its Sept. 16 meeting by presenting plaques to four employees recognized as outstanding for the quarter ending September 2024. Board Chairperson Fred Honoré announced the awards and acknowledged the recipients by name.
The board recognized Vanessa Doss (Educational Services) and Luis Sobrevilla (Educational Services) as Outstanding Classified Employees; Laura Avila (Special Education) as Outstanding Certificated Employee; and Tina Schultz (Human Resources) as Outstanding Management Employee. "Outstanding Employee Awards were presented to Vanessa Doss, Luis Sobrevilla, Laura Avila and Tina Schultz," the minutes state. The presentations preceded routine business and required no board action beyond acknowledgment.
These awards are internal recognitions by the Merced County Office of Education to highlight staff contributions; the minutes list multiple additional staff and guests present at the meeting.
