The Seaside School District board on June 30 adopted Resolution 6, approving a $47,207,311 budget for 2026–27 and imposing a permanent-rate property tax of 4.7745 per $1,000 of assessed value and a debt-service levy totaling $5,923,968.
“Be it resolved that the board of directors … hereby adopt the budget for the fiscal year 2026 to 2027, a total of 47,207,311,” a motion presented during the meeting read; the budget document lists General Fund appropriations of $31,521,115, Special Revenue $6,345,249, Debt Service $7,702,768, Capital Projects $100,000 and an unappropriated ending fund of $1,431,445.
Board members pressed staff on contingency and reserve levels during discussion. Tony, the district business staff, said the district maintains a roughly $4.8 million contingency in the general fund and has an additional $1.5 million set aside for unexpected capital needs such as roofing or structural repairs.
“We transfer about $75,000 into it every year,” Tony said of the capital contingency. Trustees also flagged a shortfall related to a local option levy that did not pass; staff said the shortfall is roughly $2.2 million and that the district will prepare a supplemental budget if needed.
Trustees approved the budget and tax resolution by voice vote. The adopted budget is available at the Seaside School District office, 2600 Spruce Drive, Suite 100, Seaside.
