Superintendent James Owens reviewed district highlights and upcoming agenda items during the Sept. 24 meeting. He reported that Pleasant Valley received recognition from the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), announced the launch of a District Equity Advisory Committee, and listed recent and upcoming events including a Multnomah County superintendent regional retreat, Oliver Middle School back-to-school night, a Rip City Rally at Centennial Middle School and CHS Homecoming.
Owens also previewed items the Board will see on future meeting agendas, including the superintendent evaluation discussion, a dining services national award and sampling, policies on first read and the regular standard reports. Director Melissa Standley noted recent school visits and encouraged other Board members to visit schools as well.
No formal action was taken on these reports; the items were presented for information and scheduling. The superintendent said he will circulate details for upcoming reports and meetings to the Board.
