Students highlight drama production, athletic wins and leadership projects

The board meeting opened with a Celebrating Student Success spotlight on the high school drama program. Students Sierra Stout, Emma Stout and Daisy Sandafur described their roles in the production Crossing Over and Director Shannon Harkins praised their dedication and technical growth, noting the program had to turn away students this year because of high interest.
Student Representative Lucas Vanderlip provided a wider update: performing arts groups are preparing for OSAA festivals, winter guard is aiming for a regional championship, and spring athletics have included several wins — a 20–6 baseball victory over Bandon and a 25–1 softball win versus Coquille — and a first-place tie at a Dutcher Creek golf tournament for Lucas and partner Owen Kolp. Vanderlip also recognized student leadership efforts, including Jaiden Babb's Red Cross drive, and noted seniors Avery Nidiffer and Lucas Vanderlip were announced as valedictorians and Lillian Walker as salutatorian. Sahara Sanko was elected to serve as next year's Student Board Representative.
