Port Orford-Langlois board approves two-year OSEA contract with raises

The Port Orford-Langlois School Board unanimously approved the OSEA 2025–2027 contract at its June 9 meeting.
Superintendent Aaron Miller presented the agreement and summarized the bargaining outcome, saying a “significant raise was negotiated; basically $2 hour across the board for the first year and $1.50 an hour in the second year.” Miller told the board the bargaining committee reviewed language and that a few typographical edits (pages 11, 25 and 45) were added that do not impact the district budget.
Bob Brown moved to approve the contract; Carol Hacherl seconded. Korinn Hockett, Carol Hacherl, Bob Brown and Angel Ashdown all voted in favor. The motion passed unanimously.
Miller framed the raise as a step toward competitive pay for classified staff. “Our classified salaries were behind compared to other districts in the region, and we need to honor the work of our employees,” he said. Board members Carol Hacherl and Bob Brown described the bargaining process as successful.
The board did not record any amendments to the contract text beyond the typographical corrections noted during the presentation. The superintendent said implementation steps tied to the contract will proceed as part of regular payroll processing.
