During the May 19 meeting, the Erath County Historical Commission reviewed several items that will be part of its upcoming budget requests.
Larry Smith reported on a preliminary budget meeting and said the commission is considering three scholarships to the Real Places conference, the possible purchase of a trailer, and a $500 supplies budget for events and projects. The commission also noted the possibility of holding one courthouse history tour annually.
Separately, Janae Smith reported that the Fourth of July parade spot has been reserved and decorations have been purchased; Carole Boucher volunteered to coordinate banners and candy. The commission set a deadline context for budget planning: budget requests will be due in August, and members agreed to finalize requests before that date.
