Superintendent Kim Kellison told the Silver Falls School District 4J board that Robert Frost and Silver Crest schools are close to being short on instructional minutes, citing HR tabulation. She noted that the calendar committee added two make-up conference days (March 13, 2026, and March 16, 2026) last year to address similar shortages and that union representatives participated in those calendar discussions.
During public comment Emily Rao, president of the Silver Falls Education Association (SFEA), expressed the association’s concern about the proposed make-up days. Director Josh Ort moved to table the action item until the March 9, 2026 board meeting; Director Kasshawna Knoll seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board did not adopt the make-up days at the Feb. 23 work session and requested further consideration at the March 9 regular meeting.
