Cannon Beach Academy and Seaside SD discuss special-education services and coordination

MaryEllen Rogozinski, director of Cannon Beach Academy, described the school's experience coordinating special-education services and said two CBA students have individualized education programs (IEPs) while five students have 504 plans.
Susan Penrod stated that CBA students are receiving SPED services and clarified that 504 accommodations are the charter school's responsibility. Rogozinski recalled working with a case manager when first hired and urged continued collaboration to ensure students receive appropriate services. The board asked staff to return with clarifications of roles and any necessary memoranda of understanding before approving amendments that would affect service delivery.
