District reviewing charter funding request; board could change sponsorship rate

Susan said the increase is not built into the current proposed 2026–27 budget; if the board decides to increase the sponsorship level it would need to determine funding sources (reserves or reallocated expenditures) and any change could affect the district's final adopted budget. "We do, sponsor Canyon Beach Academy as a public charter school. We we fund them at an 80% bridal, which is the 80% is, what's required by the state if you if you fund a public charter school, if you sponsor them," staff said.
The committee noted the board is considering the request and that any decision would be reflected in future board action and potentially in a supplemental budget if funding is required.
