Vince Adams said community engagement means both communicating successes and bringing community members into governance. The superintendent has embedded engagement expectations into her goals so the board will have "stories to tell" by spring. Directors identified professional development (OSBA resources and the Honors Board Program) and three scheduled data-focused work sessions as tools to build board capacity and credibility with the public.
The board agreed to prioritize board learning and to consider reinstating a July retreat to better align planning, evaluation, and goal-setting.
