County proclaims support for RSVP volunteers, acknowledges volunteer impact and upcoming event

The court read and approved a proclamation recognizing the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and its contributions to Lubbock County. Joan Blackman, who joined the dais, described program activities and volunteer impact, saying RSVP has "over 550" active volunteers and reported last year's activities including delivery of more than 3,000 caps for service members and a multi-year Patriot Stocking Project.
Blackman invited commissioners and the public to an RSVP celebratory event on Feb. 28 at the Academic Events Center on the Texas Tech campus, noting volunteers provide thousands of service hours and support nonprofits such as Meals on Wheels and a veterans food pantry. The court approved the proclamation by unanimous vote.
