The Westwood Heights Board of Education convened a regular meeting on July 15, 2026, in the library at Hamady Middle/High School. Vice-President Lester Fykes called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.; the board led the Pledge of Allegiance and recited the district mission statement.
Board member Roberts moved to approve the meeting agenda; Board member Walker supported the motion and it carried 5-0. The board recorded a community announcement about the "HAWK Explosion" event set for August 8 beginning at 11 a.m.
During the meeting the board approved a leave of absence for up to one year for J. Lynn under the WHEA negotiated contract (motion by Roberts, supported by Johnson; motion carried 5-0), approved the first reading of Neola Policy Updates 40-1 (motion by Turner, supported by Roberts; motion carried 5-0), and accepted a $500 donation from Dort Federal for the marching band (motion by Johnson, supported by Roberts; motion recorded as carried). Vice-President Lester Fykes adjourned the meeting with no further business recorded.
