Town staff (S2) told the Select Board that the contractor for the Valley Lake Road culvert project is scheduled to start work on August 10 and expects to take roughly 2.5–3 weeks, noting complexity near a retaining wall that may slow progress.
"They're set to start the project on August 10," S2 said when describing the contractor's plan and schedule. Board members asked about detour signage, whether the contractor or town would provide traffic control, and whether the school parking lot could be used for equipment staging. Staff planned Front Porch Forum notices and direct contact with affected residents ahead of the closure.
Members also noted school professional development and student start dates (students begin Aug. 26) and discussed coordinating with the school to avoid major disruption to buses and drop‑off patterns. The board asked staff to pull the contract to confirm detour/traffic control responsibilities and to check whether the contractor will supply signage.
