Board approves two-year contract with teachers; raises average pay and insurance costs

The Port Orford-Langlois School District board unanimously approved the POLSD/POLTA collective bargaining agreement for 2025–2027 at the July 21 meeting.
Superintendent Aaron Miller reported the negotiations were "collaborative and cooperative" and summarized key terms: a 4% salary increase in the first year and 4.5% in the second year; a $75 increase in the monthly insurance premium that, due to 'me too' clauses, applied to additional employee categories; and an adjustment allowing teachers two personal days per year with the option to roll over one unused day. The POLTA union has ratified the agreement and the board voted to approve it unanimously.
Board members recorded the vote and the agreement will be implemented according to its terms; specifics of payroll scheduling and premium application will be handled by district finance staff.
