District board adopts sixth-grade science, K–8 health and new high-school business courses

Port Orford-Langlois School District 2CJ’s board voted July 21 to adopt three curriculum items: sixth-grade supplemental science for Ms. Windholz’s classes, a new K–8 comprehensive health program, and a set of high-school business classes that administrators plan to expand over the next two years.
According to the board packet and Superintendent Aaron Miller, funding is available to cover curriculum materials and teacher training. Miller noted that curricular materials are now online and that staff will provide a way for parents to review materials in the future to ensure transparency. Angel Ashdown moved to accept the proposed curriculum and the board voted unanimously to approve the adoptions.
The curriculum adoptions are intended to support instruction across grade levels and to expand career- and technical-education options at the high school.
