Board approves agenda, audits and policy revisions; selects Eastside Student Center as Community Star

The Inyo County Board of Education convened on March 12, 2026, in Bishop and approved its agenda and a package of consent and business items. Trustees George Lozito, Joe Profita and David Hefner voted 3-0 to carry motions that included approval of the February 24, 2026 meeting minutes and the selection of the Eastside Student Center as the countywide Community Star for 2026.
The board also approved the financial items on the agenda: the fiscal-year 2024–25 audit report (fiscal year ending June 30, 2025) and the 2025–26 second interim report. Both measures passed unanimously among trustees present. The board approved a set of policy and regulation revisions covering nondiscrimination in county office programs (CBP 0410), authorization of county charter schools (CBP 0420.4), access to county office records (CBP 1340), immigration enforcement response (CBP 1445 and COR 1445), personal illness/injury leave (COR 4361.1), and several student-records items (CBP 5125; CBP 5125.1; COR 5125.1; Exhibit 5125.1-E(1)).
Trustee Joe Profita moved and Trustee George Lozito seconded each of the principal motions; minutes record the votes as "Motion carried 3-0." The board approved routine personnel and administrative items and completed the business portion of its agenda before hearing open items and adjourning at 3:21 p.m.
The board indicated next steps for calendar items: the Annual Community Report is scheduled for an April release, and the next regular meeting is set for April 9, 2026, at the Inyo County Office of Education in Bishop.
